About the Palace

Royal Heritage

Originally built in 1746 as the summer palace of Maharana Jagat Singh II, Taj Lake Palace appears to float magically on Lake Pichola. This white marble marvel spans a 4-acre island and offers breathtaking views of the Aravalli Mountains and City Palace. The palace preserves its royal legacy with intricate mirror work, frescoes, and hand-carved marble jali screens. Each of the 66 rooms and 17 luxury suites is uniquely decorated with period furniture, rich fabrics, and modern amenities. Guests arrive by private boat and are welcomed with rose petals, beginning an unforgettable experience of Rajasthani hospitality.

The most magical experience of our lives! Arriving by boat to the floating palace felt like stepping into a fairy tale. Our Lake View Room had breathtaking views of the City Palace. The staff arranged a private dinner on the terrace with traditional dancers - absolutely unforgettable. Worth every rupee for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Absolutely stunning property with impeccable service. The heritage walk with the palace historian was fascinating. Only minor complaint was the WiFi was spotty in our room (though they quickly moved us to a better location). The pool overlooking the lake is divine. Perfect romantic getaway - we understand why it's called the world's most romantic hotel!
